Scammers have come a long way since the 90s, and are now able to create fake Pokmon cards that are almost indistinguishable from the real thing

Being mono-color makes the manabase a lot cheaper, consistent, and able to fit utility lands Not only are the lands cheaper budget wise, but the chance of color screw is greatly reduced (can still happen with colorless sources)

It's a bit vulnerable to blocks and removal but reminds me a lot of Hero of Bladehold which was one of the best creatures in Limited and Constructed back in the day
