As Timothy Zaccagnino said when I asked for his opinion about this topic, I think the onus is partly on the player to say to themselves that they don't need everything that comes out, and I find it interesting and exciting that people can play cards against me in 2023 that I'd never seen before

If I was asked what qualities which define the current era of Magic: The Gathering , theres a few answers I could give

Solid, really solid for Commander IMO

The card itself is a standard Umbreon from the set, but the Master Ball foil pattern across the holo surface gives it a distinctive visual treatment that photographs well and stands out in a binder page

Sometimes you are forced into a situation where you need to blow your Vindicate/Counterspell on a cheaper card that you have far more efficient alternate ways to answer thus making them seem underwhelming
